In a recent podcast episode of Chief Influencer, hosted by Anthony Shop, Ambassador Georg Sparber shares his perspectives on influence and how it operates in both highly visible and quiet strategic ways. He highlights the importance of building influence and trust over time through consistency and a focus on applying core strengths and expertise to amplify influence.
Additionally, he talks about Liechtenstein’s unique blend of entrepreneurship, diplomacy, and democratic tradition and its recent leveraging of expertise in financial services to fight global human trafficking. With the rise of social media, digital diplomacy has also become increasingly important. Ambassador Georg Sparber underscores the significance of social media channels to convey messages and reach wider and new audiences in the US and abroad.
He encourages other leaders to concentrate on their passions, as it’s one of the most powerful drivers of influence. He further raises the importance of maintaining bilateral and multilateral relationships when it comes to the spheres of influence, especially for a small country like Liechtenstein. Influence is not always immediate and visible but can happen after planting the seeds of an initial understanding: “There are many different theories of what influence really is, and I do think at the end of the day, you've influenced a person or a process if you left a trace, if you have created, like a potential, that can evolve into something concrete later on.”
