Traveling to Liechtenstein
SPECIAL NOTICE: Effective 6 July 2020 and in coordination with the Swiss government, travelers bound for Liechtenstein from countries posing a high risk of coronavirus infection must quarantine themselves for 10 days upon arrival. The ten-day quarantine applies to anyone who has spent time in the listed countries in the previous 14 days.
In alphabetical order the list of high risk countries includes: Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Iraq, Israel, Kosovo, Kuwait, Moldova, North Macedonia, Oman, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, the Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States.
Within two days of arrival in Liechtenstein, visitors from the listed countries must report to Liechtenstein's Department of Health (Telephone: +423 236 73 46).
Liechtenstein does not issue its own visas. As there are no border controls between Liechtenstein and Switzerland, without exception the same visa requirements apply to travelers to Liechtenstein as they do to travelers to Switzerland. Please contact the Swiss representation in your US consular district for further information.
Please note: For travelers from the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin the Consulate of Lithuania in Chicago is examining applications and issuing Schengen visas. The initial application however should be submitted at the Visa Application Center in Chicago. More information can be found on the VFS website.
Moving to Liechtenstein
According to the decision of the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Committee, Liechtenstein can give out a certain number of residence permits (direct issue). There also exists a system similar to the US Green Card Lottery on the basis of which residence is granted to a certain number of economically active and non-active persons. Currently only EEA citizens are eligible to enter the drawing. For both the lottery and the direct issue by the government there is a quota for the maximum number of permits issued.
