Roller Coasters Made in Liechtenstein

Although little known outside the industry, many of the world’s most spectacular roller coasters are designed and manufactured by a Liechtenstein company. Intamin currently holds the records for the world’s tallest and the world’s fastest coasters.

The “Kingda Ka” is located in the Six Flags Great Adventure Park in New Jersey. Not only is it the tallest coaster in the world but also the fastest in the US. In only a 50 second ride, you'll accelerate to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds up to the top of a 456-foot-tall tower.

The world’s fastest coaster, the “Formula Rossa”, is located in Abu Dhabi. In carriages inspired by Formula 1 racing cars, visitors reach speeds of up to 150 mph.

Intamin was founded in 1967 by the father of current CEO Patrick Spieldiener. For many years, it has been a major player in the amusement park attractions industry, supplying some 22 different styles of rides to a variety of parks. The company has installed a total of 70 coasters in several countries around the globe.

“Speed is everything,” says Spieldiener. Not only for the rides but also when it comes to staying ahead of the competition. We develop at least one new track every year.”

In 2020, Intamin’s “Kingda Ka” will be surpassed as the world’s tallest coaster. “Skyscraper” in Orlando, Florida will be over 500 feet high and will also feature both the steepest drop and highest inversion. Needless to say, it is being manufactured by Intamin.
