Foreign Minister Frick Meets with MA Governor Baker, Opens Honorary Consulate in Boston

On March 18 Foreign Minister Aurelia Frick, accompanied by Ambassador Claudia Fritsche, visited Boston as part of Liechtenstein's interest in widening its engagement and outreach in the US.

During her visit, Minister Frick met with the Governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker. Their talks focused on Liechtenstein’s economic presence in the US including Massachusetts. Foreign Minister Frick expressed her interest in expanding Liechtenstein's private sector footprint in the state while also broadening engagement in other areas such as academic and cultural.

In her function as Minister of Education and to further strengthen Liechtenstein’s academic network, Minister Frick visited Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. At both universities she met with officials to explore opportunities for academic exchange and enrichment.

Foreign Minister Frick's visit was concluded with the opening of an Honorary Consulate in Boston. Marta Judson was appointed to add to Liechtenstein's network of honorary consulates in the US. She will cover the region of northern New England. The other four posts, which also cover greater regions, are located in Macon, GA, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The opening ceremony was also attended by a delegation from Liechtenstein which included Ambassador Martin Frick, Director of the Liechtenstein Foreign Ministry.

In her speech at Ms. Judson's credentialing ceremony Foreign Minister Frick emphasized the importance of reaching beyond Washington, DC to build awareness and advance Liechtenstein's interests. Having locals, such as Marta Judson, lead this effort is a real asset to effectively connect with people and build partnerships.
